In the almost five decades since his departure from the former GDR, Dieter Otto Berschinski has created an oeuvre that, despite the remarkable abundance of exhibition participations and solo exhibitions, was always seen only in parts. Sometimes only the painter was presented, more often only the graphic artist. Our retrospective, launched with the vernissage on November 19, 2022, now attempts to comprehensively honor the artist, who trained at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden and at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main (Masters student 1980).

" … The compositions seem like energetic force fields that know no boundaries and yet never run the risk of losing themselves in the unbounded infinite space. For for all their dynamism and power, they exhibit a clear tectonics in their structure that clearly distinguishes them from the action painting of a Jackson Pollock or informal painting in its purest manifestation…”
